Read, Piers PaulAlive: The Story of the Andes Survivors Hagerstown, Maryland, U.S.A. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins 1974 039701001x / 9780397010011 1st Edition Hardcover Very Good+ Very Good Book 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall An account of a Uruguayan rugby team and their companions who were stranded in the remote Andes mountains after their plane crashed in 1972. Stated first edition. First printing. Save for some browning to the pages and an inscription on the front free endpaper, this is a clean copy with no other writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, if a bit bumped, and the dark blue boards are flat and true with very little edge wear. The lower spine is a bit bumped, and there is some soiling or scuffing to the top 2" or so of the front board. Dust jacket is not price-clipped ($10.00) but does have some moderate browning, tears of 1" or less to three of the four corners, two tears of 1" or less to the top edge of the back cover, a 3" tear through the title on the front cover with an associated crease, and some tattering to the upper and lower spine. These will all flatten out in the mylar cover, so this book will still look great in any collection. This collectible, very good+/very good, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!
