Carrie, a telekinetic high school student, exacts revenge on her bullying classmates. A very rare copy of the author's first published novel! Stated first edition. A true first printing with "P6" in the gutter of page 199. Ex-library copy stamped "Property of U.S. Army" on lower textblock edge. Front flyleaf is stamped similarly and also bears two other library stamps. Bookplate/library pocket has been ripped off of the rear free endpaper leaving three white areas on the darker paper. The book itself has some flaws, namely cracked binding along the front and rear endpaper gutters (the front has an attempted repair with 1.5" linen-type tape), some staining/foxing to some of the pages, and moderate browning. Lower right corner and edge of the front free endpaper also has a white area on the darker paper, perhaps from moisture. Otherwise there is no writing, marks, underlining, or remainder marks. The spine is fairly tight, but the book has been read a lot and is creased to show it. Boards are flat and true, if a bit soiled, and the corners are square. Dust jacket is not price-clipped and shows only minor wear, but it does bear a library sticker on the spine. Also the jacket flaps appear to be glued down and have browned on the edges as a result. The mylar cover is also attached in this way and appears to have been pieced together. As a result there is a seem in the mylar running horizontally from front to back. A highly collectible, very good copy! Satisfaction guaranteed!
