Classic novel set in early twentieth-century rural Maine and centered around Dr. Wilbur Larch--orphanage director, ether addict, and abortionist--and his favorite orphan, who is never adopted. Stated first trade edition. First printing with correct full number line sequence. This is a beautiful, apparently unread copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Spine is tight and crisp. Boards are flat and true, and the corners are square. The only flaw to the book is a small area (1" or so) of very, very light soiling to the upper textblock edge. Dust jacket is not price-clipped and shows minimal wear/scuffing. There is a 1/4" tear on the lower right corner of the front cover with some associated delamination. This SCARCE, highly collectible, near fine, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!
